Gift of Trees Patch

I have to do 6 activities to earn this patch.

1. Philanthropists in Action: I learned about Eliza Skidmore's dream to plant Cherry Trees in Washington, D.C. It took her a long time, but we are now having the 100 year celebration. I also drew a picture of my dream. This is my dream:

2. Honoring International Friendships: make a paper crane to share with a new friend and learn the "Make New Friends" Girl Scout song. Here I am singing this new song...

3. Cultural Connections: Eat Sushi and learn Japanese letters for Sakura (the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom). Here they are:

4. Spring Into Art: Write a Haiku about  the beauty of the cherry tree and draw a picture.

5. Discover your Environment: Learn about photosynthesis and plant seeds to watch grow. I planted watermelon seeds

6. History Activities: Changes in girl scouts since mommy was a girl scout and geocaching with my troop where we hid a new geocache with seeds in it.
